The fact that so many children with different types of handicaps were deprived of even basic schooling due to lack of opportunities was very disheartening. It was with this concern that we decided to set up a school for hearing impaired children. We have been supported in different ways by various individuals and organizations. We are thankful to all! While classroom training is a must for a good foundation, there is also a need to help them earn their own livelihood. Such vocational development facilities are yet to be set up, for which we need continuous support from the community.

As coordinator of all activities at Dhwani, I thank God for giving me this opportunity to serve these special children. Over the years my involvement with the children has taken a priority in my life, and their welfare has become a passion for me.

I have been very fortunate in getting whole hearted support from friends, acquaintances and even strangers in this endeavor. I pray to the almighty to give me strength to continue to work for Dhwani for many years to come.

The Faculty

Special Children need Special Teachers…

Finding teachers who have been trained to teach the hearing impaired is an uphill task. Only some of our staff has had the formal training in sign language and other methods for this requirement.

The rest learn on the job! We also have very able support staff in the administration department. Liaising with government offices and numerous visits to Gandhinagar are thanks to Jasvantsinh Solanki.
